Mirja Marco Bendtsen
PODIATRIST IN BARCELONA
Over twenty-five years of treating feet. And behind every foot, there is a person with their own story, their own pace and their own needs. That is something Mirja has never lost sight of.
One calling which goes back a long way
Mirja’s journey into podiatry began before she even realised it. Her grandfather was an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in foot surgery, and growing up surrounded by such a specialised field of medicine—one so closely linked to movement and quality of life—left a lasting impression on her.

He studied Podiatry at the University of Barcelona and graduated from the University of Valencia. Since then, he has not stopped: a Master’s in Podiatric Research, specialising in nail surgery and hallux valgus at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine; a University Expert in Medical and Surgical Podiatry from the Complutense University of Madrid; and a PhD currently in progress at Rey Juan Carlos University… A course of study aimed not at collecting qualifications, but at gaining a better understanding of every case that comes to his practice.
He is a member of the International Committee on Biomechanics and Sports Podiatry, and has spoken at biomechanics conferences in Barcelona.

Years of experience
A real experience, not just on paper
In addition to running her own practice at the La Salud Medical Centre in Barcelona, Mirja has built up an unusual career: she has worked as a podiatrist and biomechanics specialist at Real Club Deportivo Español, the Marcet Foundation, the Balmes Sanitas Medical Centre and various medical centres in and around Barcelona. For many years, she also served as a surgical assistant to Dr Rabat at Quirónsalud Barcelona Hospital.
It is this combination of consultation, high-performance sport and surgery that enables his diagnosis to go beyond the obvious.

No two feet are alike. Nor are two people in exactly the same situation. Treatment shouldn’t be either.
No two feet are alike.
Nor are there two people who come to her with the same background, the same history or the same expectations. Mirja takes the time needed to listen, explore and understand before suggesting any treatment.
Their approach combines clinical rigour with a warm, friendly manner. No rushed consultations or standardised diagnoses. Every visit is a conversation between practitioner and patient, with the aim of finding the best solution together.
